Daniel Davenport (1771-1851) and Ann of Somerford Booths (grandson of Thomas Davenport)

Daniel Davenport (1771-1851) was married about 1794 to Ann. Their first two children were born at Somerford (John 1795) and Lower Withington (Joseph 1797), but about 1800, Daniel and Mary settled at Somerford Booth. According to the land tax records, Daniel leased John Fallster's land at Somerford Booth from about 1800 - land which had previously been leased to his father Daniel Davenport (1733- 1796). The lease expired in 1817 - the land tax was 1 shilling and eight pence. Daniel and Ann raised seven children before Ann died in 1821. We have record of two children from this union marrying - John Davenport (1795- 1877) and James Davenport (1803). Daniel remarried a widow Sarah Hall from Swettenham at Swettenham in 1824. By this second marriage Daniel had one son Davies Davenport (1825 - 1841). In the 1841 census, Daniel and Sarah Davenport were living alone at Somerford Booth. Daniel died in 1851.

John Davenport (1795-1877) was raised at Somerford Booth and was married in 1822 to Hannah at Astbury. Their first three children were born whilst they were resident of Swettenham, but about 1831, the family moved to Davenport where they were resident for the 1841,51,61 census. Daniel was recorded as a laborer. Daniel and Hannah raised nine children - Joel Davenport (1824 -1892), Allen Davenport (1827-1912), Martha (1829), Henry Davenport (1832), Harriet (1834), Maria (1834), Charles (1836), Emma (1838), John Hackney Davenport (1841/44). John died at Church Hulme in 1877 aged 81. Child (1) Joel Davenport  (1824- 92) married Catherine Darlington at Church Lawton in 1847. In the 1851 census, Joel and Catherine were parents of two daughters Harriet (1848) and Emma (1850) and Joel was employed as a groom. In 1853 Catherine died, and in the 1861 census of Church Lawton, Joel is alone and a widower. He remarried - Emma Machin at Church Lawton, Astbury parish in 1865 and soon after they relocated to Manchester where they raised three children. By the 1881 and 1891 census Joel and his family had moved to Tottenham, Lancs, where Joel was employed as a groomsman. Joel died at Manchester in 1892 leaving three children Joel Davenport (1867), Louise Emma Davenport (1868) and Henry Davenport (1871). Child (2) Allen Davenport (1827-1912) married Ellen Fisher at Astbury in 1854, settling in Arlcid, Cheshire until Allen's death in 1902. In the 1861,71,81,91 Allen was a shoemaker. He and Ellen left two children Allen (1856) and Rhoda (1858). Allen was a shoemaker like his father - he married Sarah Pedley in 1879 at Sandbach, and they raised five children at Davenport, and then moved to Arclid from about 1890 and lived with Allen senior. Rhoda married Frank Warrington at Sandbach in 1884; Child (3) Henry Davenport (1832) married Mary Brownsword from Odd Rode at Astbury in 1856, and raised five children at Odd Rode, Cheshire - 1861,71,81,91 census of Odd Rode. After Mary died, Henry moved to Otley, Yorks to live with his married daughter Harriet (1869) who had married William Bunnett.

James Davenport (1803) married Mary from Marton in about 1831, and they soon after moved to the Staffordshire Potteries at Bagnal. Here they raised five children. The youngest son Joseph Davenport (1843- 1908) married Sarah Ann Heaton at Stoke upon Trent, Staffs in 1868. Joseph and Sarah raised two sons at Hanley, Staffs - Joseph Davenport (1869-) who married Hannah Austin in 1888 and raised at least six children at Hanley, and William Davenport (1870-) who married Annie Elkin and they also raised at least two sons at Hanley, Staffs.
