Frank Davenport (1885 - 1949) of Congleton and Alice Price (1889-1942) of Congleton

Frank Davenport's grandmother Emma Davenport died at a young age (age 34) in 1873 leaving three young children Harriet (11), Jane (5) and Emma (3). Emma junior died in 1874, and Daniel remarried in 1876 leaving the young girls in the care of their grandmother Jane Holland at 9 Rood Hill Road, until her death in 1891. Daniel and his second wife Elizabeth lived at 34 Rood Hill Rd (1881 census and 1891 census) until Daniel's death in 1896. After 1896, Harriet and her sister Jane moved into their father's residence at 34 Rood Hill Road.

Harriet Davenport gave birth to Frank Davenport in 1885. She and Jane had shared a home since 1869, and were still together with Jane a spinster in the 1901 census. So Frank was raised in a family comprising his mother and spinster aunt at Rood Hill.

Frank Davenport married Alice Price at Congleton in 1906 where they raised eight children, seven of whom married and raised families in and around Congleton. Edith Davenport married Rowland Crowther in 1929 and raised three children, Roland, Vera and Graham. Alice Davenport married James Brindley in 1933 and raised three children Raye, John and Jeff.  Frank Davenport married Betsy Dooley in 1933 and had one son Graham Davenport. William Ernest Davenport married Marie Hood in 1940. Leonard Davenport married Betty and had one son Phillip. Vera Davenport married Herbert Brown in 1942 and raised four children, Herbert, Beverly, Vera (Newton) and Clive. Reginald married Violet and had one son Derek.
